Maltese Language at risk

My name is Sherose Cassar and I am currently studying at the University of Malta. In my first blog post I decided to tackle the issue discussed by MEP Francis Zammit Dimech who talks about the Maltese language and the risk it is facing not having much representation online. Being Maltese and a communication studies student I believe this is a very important topic and should be discussed more as it would be a shame for such a beautiful and unique language to die out. 
According to MEP Francis Zammit Dimech the Maltese language is facing the risk of "digital extinction" due to the lack of technology support. Dr. Zammit Dimech said that the Maltese language should be well integrated and used on digital platforms and also through digital assistants such as Siri and Alexa, adding that it is everyone's responsibility to ensure this takes place.
"The Maltese language is part of out national identity, which makes us proud of who we are. That is why I believe it is important to facilitate the teaching and learning of the Maltese language, which we use in our daily lives as well as on digital media," said Dr. Zammit Dimech. 
Recent news reports have shown that many young people in Malta poorly speak and write in both Maltese and English, which results in performing poorly in school, which is of great concern. The MEP commented that this is concerning as it will be a struggle to enter into the job market if kids don`t know how to speak languages well and thus we should make a continuous effort to teach the Maltese language to the younger generation, who will then transmit this to the generations to come and therefore keep the Maltese language alive. Dr. Zammit Dimech suggests that new digital media should be used to provide the opportunity to promote the use of Maltese language online to be able to reach as many people as possible and spread the Maltese language. "We must all work together to make sure other digital services will be introduced in the Maltese language," he added.

What is fashion?

We find fashion all around us and we deal with it every day. Not everyone has the same thoughts about fashion. There are those whose life is dedicated to fashion, there are those who consider it important but not so much and then there are those who say they don`t care.
