Fashion serving as a source to honour late former American President.

Fashion can, and is most of the time, used to make a statement. Some people have their own little quirks regarding fashion, such as loving to wear different and patterned ties every day or socks, which becomes a part of who they are, their identity. As was the case of the late former American president George H.W Bush who was known to love wearing colorful, graphic socks for all occasions.

This post is about how the world has said goodbye to the former president George H.W Bush over the last few days. It comments on how people around the country have chosen the express their admiration by the unofficial gesture of using socks. It sounds weird when you first hear of it, socks? Even the hashtag #SocksforBush was created by students. However, it`s not only students that are doing this, even business owners were encouraging their employees to wear wacky socks in honor of Mr. Bush. There are several Instagram posts where people showcase their socks and write some short meaningful words to honor him.

The former president himself tweeted about his socks and as he started to use a wheelchair, his ankles were more exposed and so his affinity for them became even more obvious! What I find interesting is that he did not just wear fun socks to stand out but he wore socks that had messages, such as wearing socks to commemorate World Syndrome day.

In this case, fashion also allowed the people that could not be invited to the National Cathedral service to still be able to express themselves in ritual of public mourning, because of course everyone can wear a pair of wacky socks!
